DR ANIL KARAPURKAR

Introduction

With more than 35 years of experience, Dr Anil Karapurkar who is one of the pioneers in Neuro interventions in India has joined S.L.Raheja hospital, Mahim. His special interest is in Endovascular Neurosurgery in treating diseases of blood vessels of head & neck, Brain & spine. Dr Anil Karapurkar has treated thousands of patients with neurovascular diseases such as aneurysms, Brain arterio-venous malformations and fistulas (AVM & AVF), brain tumors & Acute Stroke cases. Dr Anil Karapurkar has conducted various workshops in interventional Neuro surgeries at KEM & Apollo hospital, Delhi. He completed his training in Neurosurgery from KEM Hospital, Mumbai in 1975 and subsequently worked there as Prof. in Neurosurgery. Dr Anil Karapurkar received training in endovascular procedures from France. He has been the past president of AAFITN (Asian & Australasian Federation of Interventional Neuroradiology). He has been on the Advisory Board of WFITN(World Federation of Interventional Neuroradiology). He has trained several Neurologists, Neurosurgeons and Radiologists in this exciting specialty. His aim is to create awareness of stroke amongst the public. He believes that stroke makes the patient highly dependent on others hence quick expert treatment provided in the first few hours of emergency can save him from going through complications.
